Joan Elieen Maxon Dunn Joan Elieen Maxon Dunn of Charleston South Carolina passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at Hospice of Charleston. She was 79 years old. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home chapel. The committal services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be all the grandchildren and their spouses.Rev. Danny Harrell will officiate. Mrs. Joan E. Dunn is survived by her daughters, Dianne Dunn Holman, and her husband Lee, of Monticello, Georgia, Patricia Dunn Hussey, and her husband, Hagan Jr., of Summerville, South Carolina; son, John E. Dunn, and his wife Anne, of Douglasville, Georgia; her sister, Katherine Cordell, of San Diego, California; her brothers, Richard Maxon, of Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas Maxon, and his wife Ruth, of Marietta, Ohio; her grandchildren, Shannon Mitchell, and her husband, John, Dawn Smith, Jamie Jarrell, and her husband, Allen, Trey Hussey, and his wife, Anna, Sara Dunn, Josh Dunn, Julie Dunn;her great grandchildren, Chandler Mitchell, Chaz Salter, Caleb Mitchell, Andrew Jarrell, Carson Salter, Carter Mitchell, Cooper Mitchell, and Hagan Hussey IV. Mrs. Dunn was a native of Watertown, Ohio.She was the loving wife of 46 years of Harold E. Dunn, MSG US Army Retired and they resided in Augusta, Georgia.Joan served as a nursing assistance at Ft. Gordon Hospital from 1965 to 1970.She was an active member of the Gordon Lakes Ladies Golf Association. The family requested that memorial contributions be made to the Canterbury House, 175 Market Street, Charleston South Carolina 29401.
