Jimmy Ray Ward, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013.He was born June 30, 1942 in Grimes, Alabama to Floyd and Gladys Bass Ward. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Perry Ward, whom he married in 1976; his children, Robin L. Ward (Darlene) ofOviedo, FL., Jeffery Alan Ward (Mary Hales) of Webb, AL., Johnny Ray Ward ofDothan, AL., Peri Ward Zamora (Nick) of Augusta, and Elaine Ward Renfroe (Sid) of Augusta;Grandchildren, Leah Ward Fisher (Scott), Michael Alan Ward, Thomas Cadle, Elizabeth Ward, Sydney and Lainey Renfroe; great grandchildren, Jared and Jesse Fisher; sister, Ruby Mims (Cooper) Headland, AL.;mother-in-law, Patricia W. Perry of Columbus, MS., brother-in-law Thomas Perry (Karen) of PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim worked heavy construction which brought him to Columbus, MS, with the Tenn-Tom Waterway.There he met his wife Pam and they married.After finishing the Columbus and Smithville Lock and Dams, the family moved to Augusta, GA with Plant Vogtle.Here they made their home and settled in.He continued with Vogtle before beginning Jim’s Construction Company which allowed him to spread his love of Jesus through his work and made many lifelong friends.He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and President of the Men’s Club for many years.His Liberty Family was very special to him.He was also a life member of the Masonic Order in Alabama. Family will receive friends Monday (TONIGHT) from 6 pm to 8 pm at THE POTEET FUNERAL HOME, 3465 Peach Orchard Rd., HWY 25, Augusta, 30906, 706.798.8886. Funeral Services will be Tuesday 3 pm at Liberty United Methodist Church, 2040 Liberty Church Rd., Hephzibah, 30815, with Pastor Jim Hyder, officiating.Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church in Jim’s honor or to a charity of one’s choice. The family requests for everyone to be in casual dress.
