Janet Williamson Reichard,88, of Augusta Georgia transitioned into death at her residence in Augusta, Ga. on August 10, 2017. Born September 07, 1928, Janet was predeceased by her parents Bertha Williamson and Ernest Williamson, as well as two sons Jon L Reichard of Augusta Ga and Stuart B. Reichard of Sante Fe, New Mexico. Survivors include her daughter Debra Reichard of Tacoma Washington, Granddaughter Isabella Greischel of Boulder Colorado ( University of Colorado), and many extended family members, church family members and friends. Janet was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta where she embraced the philosophy of love, acceptance, and providing a caring presence for others. She was a 1976 class of Augusta College Summa Cum Laude graduate where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree. As a world traveler, in 1990 she participated as an ambassador of the Georgia to Georgia Friendship Program which sought to embrace the alignment of citizens of the state of Georgia, USA with citizens of the Georgian Soviet Socialst Republic after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. She spent many years volunteering and advocating for social causes including the empowerment of women in need. She volunteered at University Hospital of Augusta and Planned Parenthood. As a mother of three children she believed and advocated for a couple's right to choose their family size. She spent many hours stitching beautiful tapestry work and was a respected member of the Augusta Chapter of the Embroiders Guild. She helped with Medical Conferences providing hospitality and information services and was a member of the Medical College of Georgia Faculty Wives Club. Services for Janet will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, August 15th with the Rev. Dr. Gay Ortiz officiating. Reception to follow. As Janet was an adovocate for her church, women/children's needs, and animal rescue efforts, Please consider a donation to a cause related to her advocacy as a tribute and celebration of her life.
