James Melford Young

James M. Young ,74, entered into rest on August 3, 2017. Husband of Janice Young. Mr. Young born April 10, 1943 was owner/operator of Young Son Well Drilling and Pump Drilling Service. James was an avid hunter and fisherman and president of the Gator Hunting Club. The club earned its name after James won first place on American Funniest Video’s. His love of being outdoors included cooking for club members and sharing tall-tales with his many friends. He was an honest man; a jokester and loved making people laugh. He was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Navy assigned to the USS Bennington. He was a long-time member of Good News Church. Additional survivors include, son, Robert (Bobby) Young (Donna); stepson, Jason Boland; daughter, Wendy Young; sister, Jenny Bennett (Ron). Six grandchildren, Austin Young; Ashley Watts; Jennifer Young; Stephanie McGahee; Montana Timmons and John Timmons; and one great grandchild, Sadie Young. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melford Horace and Myrtle Frances Young; son, James M. Young, Jr.; grandson, Jamie Young; brother, Tommy Young; Sister Betty Goodwin. The family wishes to thank Marie Hutchison for her outstanding compassion, loyalty and impeccable nursing skills. A memorial service will be held at Good News Church 400 Warren Road Augusta, GA 30907on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Matt Judd officiating, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good News Church Outreach Program.
