James "Pete" Phillips

James “Pete” Phillips passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at his residence with his family surrounding him.He was 79.He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.Pete was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Meredith (Ganus); his children; Ed (Rita) Phillips, Beth (Larry) Woods and Ted (Linda) Phillips; 1 brother, Allen (Josephine) Phillips. Also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Phillips, Kelly (Johnny) Cash, April (Hakz) Kaniho, Cindy Woods, Stacey (the late Jamie) Hardin, Dusty Woods, Brandy (Billy) Orzechowski, Amanda (Mike) Stein and Gary (Stephanie) Phillips and 17 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and MaeBelle (King) Phillips, 2 brothers, Al Phillips and Ward Phillips. Family will receive friends Friday 6 pm to 8 pm at Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Rd., Augusta, GA, 30906, 706.798.8886.Services will be Saturday, 10 am at the funeral home.Burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
