James Henry Montgomery

James Henry Montgomery, 72, of Augusta, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Ken Wilson officiating. A native of Elkton, Maryland, he was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School. In 1962 Mr. Montgomery joined the United States Army where after 2 separate enlistments, he retired in 1990. He was an avid golfer and also a member of Open Door Community Church of Augusta. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mrs. Betty Montgomery of Augusta; Daughters, Elaine Montgomery of Hagerstown, MD, Ann Hammond of Keedysville, Md, Tammy Hendrix of Augusta; Son, Phillip Montgomery of Arden, NC; Sisters, Mary Coover, Julia Wintermoyer, and Doreen Montgomery; Brother, John Montgomery;4 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday December 17, 2016 from 5:00 until 7:00 at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road.
