James Grady Lord

Augusta, GA. James Grady Lord, Sr., 79, of Augusta, entered into rest February 29, 2016, with his loving family surrounding him. He was born August 5, 1936, in Augusta, to the late Johnny W. and Varnie Mae Simmons Lord.James was a very loyal member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church.He served our great country in the U.S. Navy.He worked for Continental Can Co. for 33 years.James was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Melvin Lord and Earl Lord. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Georgia Cawley Lord; children, Sherry (Jimmy) Coats, Gary (LaVerne) Lord, Jr., Cindy (Sandy) Biggs and Randy (Krystal) Lord; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be Thursday, 2 pm at Lumpkin Road Baptist Church, 2540 Lumpkin Rd., with Pastor Don Stone, officiating, with visitation one hour prior to services. U. S. Navy Honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church in James’ honor.
