James "Jim" C. Shelby

James “Jim” C. Shelby, Sr., 87, of Augusta, GA, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Charlie Norwood Veterans Hospital. Born in Piggott, AR, he was the son of the late William J. and Lucy Bell Shelby.He was a retired 1st Sgt serving over 25 years in the Army, a retired master farrier known throughout the state, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. Jim was an avid coon hunter throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson DJ Shelby, 1 brother and 3 sisters. His family includes his sons, Jim (Marie) Shelby, Jr. Summerville, SC, Jay (Sandy) Shelby, Waynesboro, GA, daughters, Roxanne Brooks, Greenville, SC, Jamie Shelby, Hephzibah, GA., eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2015from 6 – 8pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 2pm in the Chapel of Poteet Funeral Home. Interment will be at 3pm in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandsons, Travis, Justin, Dane, and Jason Shelby, Trevor Bosdell, and Trey Brooks
