James J. Hollingsworth

James J. Hollingsworth 80, entered into rest Friday October 20, 2017 at his home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday October 24, 2017 at Poteet Funeral Home ,3495 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta with Chaplain Finley Limehouse . Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Born in Augusta, GA, he graduated from Richmond Academy. Serving in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years retiring as First Sergeant. A member of V.F.W. Post 649, American Legion Post 178 and the Marine Corps League. Mr. Hollingsworth was an aircraft mechanic for many years at Fort Gordon and an avid pilot. Survivors include his son James Hollingsworth ; daughters Karon Derr and Dawn Prye ; sister Sandra (Larry ) Oglesby ;companion Sigrid Cluckey; nine grandchildren , nine great-grandchildrenand one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Travis Hollingsworth. The family will receive friends from 6 til 8 pm Monday evening at Poteet Funeral Home.
