James Edward Hamilton Sr.

James Edward Hamilton Sr., 86, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep due to cardiac/respiratory failure on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was born on January 18, 1937, in Augusta, GA, the son of the late Gussie (Bush) Hamilton and Eugene L. Hamilton. He retired after many years in sales and management, most of which were with the Eureka Company until his retirement. He had a deep love for his family and family gatherings. He also had a passion for the outdoors, with fishing being his greatest enjoyment. He had no problem letting you know he was a diehard UGA Dawgs fan. James is survived by his loving wife of 54 1/2 years, Cheryl (Brewer) Hamilton, Warren Hamilton (brother), Gloria Hemstreet (sister), and cousins Ronnie Hamilton and Skip Bush. He is also survived by his 6 children: Lisa Michelle Broom (Joel), Kimberly Ann Deal (Walt), Pam Denise Badgley, Dawn Hamilton Foust (John), Vickie Lynn Hamilton, and James Edward Hamilton Jr. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. James will be dearly missed and loved always. In his final days, he was surrounded by family. He may no longer be physically with us but will forever be in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
