On Friday, March 8, 2024, James F. Beatty, Sr., a proud Vietnam Veteran with unwavering dedication to his country, loving husband, father of four children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the age 77, surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Blythe, Georgia. James was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, December 5, 1946 to Finley “Bud” and Maude Elizabeth (Saunders) Beatty. At the age of 17, James enlisted in the U.S. Army. He valued his time in the military and attained the rank of E-7, Sergeant First Class, by his retirement in 1984. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 25 years. During his time in the military James met Jodi Lynn (Jackson) Beatty, while stationed overseas in Germany and they were married on July 16, 1983, at Fort Gordon, Georgia. This marked the beginning of a journey filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Their love grew into a devoted family and they recently renewed their vows on July 16, 2023, for their 40th wedding anniversary, to reaffirm their commitment to each other and their family. He is survived by his wife, Jodi Lynn Beatty; his children, Elizabeth (Jason) Moon, Angela Zeronas, Lisa (Rex) Story, James (Tiffany) Beatty II; his eleven grandchildren, Tony (Marenda) Zeronas, Kristopher (Danielle) Zeronas, Tyler (Cheng) Zeng, Forrest Lee, Autumn Penvose, James Beatty III, Rex Story III, Tristen Beatty, Max Story, Alyssa Story, and Alexa Beatty; his four great-grandchildren, Everest Zeronas, Skylar Zeronas, Benjamin Zeronas, and Vera Zeronas; his siblings, Maude Beatty, Lynn (Beatty) Colvin and Finley “Butch” (Jerri) Beatty and Dawn (David) Mariacher and his second mother Jacqueline Mae (Forrest) Beatty and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Finley “Bud” and Maude Elizabeth (Saunders) Beatty, his brother, Dale Nurmi, his brother-in law, Thomas Colvin and his grandparents Finley “Bill” and Ruby (Shook) Beatty. James requested an Irish wake so that his family and friends could celebrate his life. Date to be announced after arrangements can be made.
