Herbert W. Bailey, Sr.

Herbert W. Bailey, Sr., entered into rest December 16, 2017 at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Donna Burtch Bailey. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Metasville Schoolhouse, Washington, Ga., with Reverends George Walton & Rob Cohen officiating. The family will receive friends after the memorial service. Herbert, a life long resident of Wilkes County, was a retired Dairy Farmer and also worked for Pet Dairy. He was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He also served as past president of Wilkes County Farm Bureau and was a former Wilkes County Commissioner. Additional survivors include his son, Manuel Bailey (Mercedes), daughter, Penny Bailey Roberson (Mark Saggus), brother, Winston Bailey (Patsy), sister, Karen Walton (George), step son, David Wayne Cannon and step daughter, Barbara Cannon Norris, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Herbie and Patrick Bailey; and a sister, Eleanor Watson.
