Mrs. Helen Ann Purkey Maynard Augusta, Georgia Mrs. Helen Ann Purkey Maynard died on Friday, April 20, 2012. She was 70 years old. She was born in Brandywine, Maryland and a lifelong resident of Augusta. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA.The funeral service will be conducted at The Poteet Funeral Home Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., the committal will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro, Georgia, Minister Shannon Shaffer will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Churchwell, Jim Waid, David Higley, Glenn Hayes, Wayne Peters and Harold Gregory. Mrs. Maynard is survived by her loving and caring husband of 46 years, Billy E. Maynard;two sons Richard (Anne) and Dwayne Maynard; two grandchildren Denise and Brandon and great-granddaughter Aspen; one brother Jimmy Purkey (Marion); one sister Betty Purkey Carroll; sister-in-law Elizabeth Fulcher Purkey; and a number of nieces and nephews . Mrs. Maynard was the daughter of the late Paul W. Purkey Sr. and Maymie Ramsey Purkey. The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706.798.8886 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
