Hazel J. Deere

Mrs. Hazel Jowers Deere, age 86, of Appling, Georgia, entered into rest on December 4, 2008 at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.Mrs. Deere was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She was the widow of Walter H. Deere and was preceded in death by her daughter, Lillie Osborne, and her granddaughter, Joy Osborne, sister, Janie Jones and brothers, John Jowers and Jack Jowers. Mrs. Deere is survived by her son, Larry Lawhon of Minnesota; her daughter, Elizabeth Holt; her beloved sisters, Sadie Bentley, who was her caretaker for many years, of Appling and Helen Cox of Columbia County; brother, Wayman Jowers of Columbia County,grandsons, Charles Lawhon and Michael Osborne; great grandchildren, Christopher and Zachary Lawhon. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2008 in the chapel of Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, with Dr. Jack Custer officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Chris Johnson, Burles A. Johnson, Rusty Johnson, and Chris Johnson, sons and grandsons of Sadie Bentley, will serve as pallbearers.
