Harry David Fortney, of Augusta, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.He was 74 years old. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 19, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at HIS Community Church, 3358 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.Mr. Fortney will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.Pastor Ken Young will officiate. Mr. Fortney attended HIS Community Church with his mother. Mr. Fortney is survived by his mother, Christine H. Fortney Bryant; brothers, Franklin J. Fortney and his wife Ruth of Parrish, Florida, Paul B. Fortney of Garden City, California; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.Mr. Fortney was preceded in death by his father, Burton J. Fortney; step-father, James H. Bryant; brother, Jimmy Lee Fortney; sisters, Marilyn Sue Melton and Jo Ann Maher.
