Gunter Siebert

August 15, 1923 — February 5, 2021

Gunter Siebert, 97, of Evans, Georgia entered into rest February 5, 2021 after complications from COVID-19. He was born in Munden, Germany August 15th, 1923 to Gertrude and Karl Siebert. He and his wife Gerda moved to Shelby, Ohio in 1953, living there until 2003 when they moved to Augusta, Georgia to be close to family. While in Shelby he worked at Gumps Body Shop, Ohio Seamless Tube Company and Shelby Sales Book. Gunter belonged to the Mason Lodge in Shelby, Ohio and attended the First Lutheran Church of Shelby. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and dancing. He and Gerda were married for 65 years until her death in 2013. During their years in Augusta, they were faithful viewers of the television ministry church services of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church and active at Washington Commons retirement community. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Heike and Ralph Sperling of North Augusta, son and daughter in-law Falk and Betty Breitmann of Martinez, Georgia, three grandchildren: Todd Breitmann, Troy Breitmann and Chris Kunert, and seven great grandchildren: Shelby Cannon, Mitchell Breitmann, Heidi Shelley, Hailey Breitmann, Cassie, Tori and Greg Kunert. He was preceded in death by his wife Gerda Siebert, his brother Walter Ohse, and grandson Gregory Kunert. The family will hold a private dinner to celebrate his life.
