Gordon F. Baker

Augusta, GA. Gordon F. Baker, 95, passed away June 13, 2015 at his residence. He was surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon S. Baker; mother, Annie Leo Gay Baker; wife, Kathryne M. Baker; and daughter, Edna Earle Dowdy. He is survived by his sons, Gordon F. Baker, Jr. (Doris) and Gordon S. Baker; daughter, Alice Ann B. McCann (Michael); granddaughters, Kathryne Baker and Katherine McCann; and grandson, Michael E. McCann. Mr. Baker worked throughout his adult life as a carpenter, fabricator, welder, millwright, and pattern maker at Georgia Iron Works. After retirement, he dedicated his life to collecting various items that caught his eye, and lived his life much as he desired. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held Wednesday June 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Building Worship Center, 1738 Gordon Highway, Augusta, GA. Interment will be held at a later date.
