Life Legacy Geraldine JeriCartwright Thomas Tuesday April 30th, 2013 Geraldine Jeri Cartwright Thomas passed peacefully in her sleep at Doctors Hospital.She was preceded in death by her husband Gale F. Thomas, her son Robert F. (Bobby) Thomas, her grandson Terry N. (T) Tharpe, Jr. and son in law Terry N. Tharpe Sr. Jeri was born August 1st 1929 to the late T.O. and Annie Cartwright in Cleveland, TN. There she met and married her husband of 52 years, Gale F. Thomas.Together they raised 3 wonderful children, Ronnie, Brenda and Bobby.Her husband served in the US Army and their family travelled to Fort Devens, MA; Augusta, Georgia; Bussac, France; Fort Huachuca, AZ; and in 1965 they finally settled back at Fort Gordon and made Evans, Georgia their home. Jeri worked several years in the Martinez/Evans area where she met and made many lifelong friends. Her great humor and infectious smile made her unforgettable. To know Jeri was to love her. Her biggest love was her family. After lovingly raising her children, in 1970 she was blessed with her first two grandchildren, Traci and Ronald Jr (Bo); in 1973 and again in 1975 she was blessed with, Terry Jr. (T) and Jason.In 1992 she was again blessed with her first great-grandson, Dayton; in 1994 a great grand-daughter, Taylor; in 1998 with great grandson, Hunter; 2001 with great grand-daughter, Chandler, and 2008 with great grandson, Jase. Throughout her 83 years she stayed active, playing on bowling leagues; travelling to Las Vegas, NV, Atlantic City, NJ and Cherokee, NC to play slot machines; playing cards with The Trashy Ladies every Wednesday; shopping for treasures at Goodwill; playing Georgia Lottery Tickets, and most recently joining the Ladies Red Hat Club at the Place at Martinez, where she spent the last year of her life. Jeri is survived by her son, Ronald G. (Ronnie) Thomas, Sr. and wife Deborah; their children Ronald G. (Bo) Thomas, Jr. & wife Susan and Jason P. Thomas.Her daughter, Brenda T. Tharpe and friend, Charles (Charlie) Wagner; grand-daughter, Traci Tharpe Eubanks & husband Clay.Great-Grandchildren: Dayton Counsell, Taylor Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Chandler Eubanks and Jase Thomas; Brothers Elmer Cartwright & Bennie Cartwright; and many Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. Her Family would like to say a special Thank You to the Employees at The Place at Martinez who lovingly took care of her, made special friendships with her and Loved her as family.She also wanted to encourage all to be an Organ Donor as her beloved son, Bobby, was.He helped many people after his passing in 2008. This was a cause that was dear to her. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 2nd at the Chapel at Belleview Memorial Gardens, Grovetown, GA. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm at the Chapel prior to the service.Her family wishes for donations to be made to the Jeri Thomas Gazebo Memorial Fund. That will be constructed at The Place at Martinez.Donations can be made at any Georgia Bank and Trust location (The Jeri Thomas Gazebo Memorial Fund).
