George A. Macky

Augusta, GA – George A. Macky, age 81, died February 22, 2010 surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. George was the beloved husband of 51 years to Bobbie Jean Macky and a devoted father to his two girls. George was born in Augusta, Georgia.He was preceded in death by his parents John and Martha Macky; his brother, John Macky; his sister, Mary Daley, and his son-in-law, Don Bennett. Survivors include his loving wife Bobbie; his daughters, Cathy Goodgame and her husband Michael, Barbara Bennett and her late husband Don, and his special grandson, Chad Bennett;along with many nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family members. The funeral service will be conducted today, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Rev. Earl Welch will officiate. Pallbearers will be Harry Carver, David Ford, Jamie Jones, Donnie Sharpe, Justin Sharpe, and Regis Quintin. George worked before his retirement as a Truck Leasing Agent for TSC Express.He was always a truck driver at heart.He touched many hearts and lives, as he always helped his fellow neighbor.He will always be remembered for his kindhearted spirit.
