Mr. George William Goddard Augusta, GA. George William Goddard, 85, entered into rest Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Westwood Nursing Home in Evans, GA. Born in Portland, OR to May Christina Goddard and George Washington Goddard, he was raised in Salmon Creek and Vancouver, WA. Mr. Goddard graduated from Fort Vancouver High School and the University of Portland. He had a long career with the US Forest Service as a Civil Engineer and served on national forests in Oregon, Washington State, the Washington DC area, and in Utah. After retiring from the Forest Service and relocating to Augusta in 1986, he served as Traffic Engineer for the City of Augusta for a decade. Mr. Goddard was a member of the Methodist church. He served in the US Navy in early 1950’s and was a lifelong member of the Elks Club. He survived by children Gregory Wilson of Bend, OR, Suzanne Goddard Moon of Augusta, GA and Jennifer Goddard Allen (husband David) of North Augusta, SC, son Winston Goddard and six grandchildren, He is predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Marianna Simmons and Helen Miller. Per his wishes, his ashes will be sprinkled in a special place of his designation by his children. He did not wish to have a memorial service but the family suggests that you may honor him by making a donation to the Aiken County SPCA. The family wishes to thank George’s good friend Vance Mahoney, who was like a son to him and Everlyne Brown, his friend and caretaker for over a year; and the caring staff at Westwood Nursing Home who cared for him the past seven months.
