George Daniel Filyaw

George Daniel Filyaw of Walker Street in Augusta died on Thursday, February 05, 2009.He was 73 years old. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 07, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Homes, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.Committal services will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.Rev. Johnny Barrett will officiate.Pallbearers are Chris Borders, Joey Borders, Blake Messick, Chase Borders, Keith Barrett, and Evan Croy. Mr. Filyaw was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mildred Wilson Filyaw, in 2002.He was also preceded in death by his parents, James Bluett Filyaw and Bessie Terry Filyaw; his brother, James Filyaw; his sister, Mildred Bracy. Mr. Filyaw is survived by his three sons, Rodney Borders and his wife, Barbara, of Augusta, Larry Borders and his wife, Glenda, of Edgefield, and Bobby Borders of Augusta; his sisters, Racine Peek and Winona Lindsey, both of Cullman,Alabama; his five brothers, Billy Filyaw, of Gloversville, South Carolina, Ernest Filyaw, of Warrenville, South Carolina, Douglas Filyaw, Jimmy Filyaw, of Langley, South Carolina, and Johnny Filyaw, of Clearwater, South Carolina; his seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Filyaw was a veteran of the Unites States Army. Mr. Filyaw’s family would like to thank the staff of Alliance Hospice for their wonderful care and dedication.
