Freddy (Duane) Mixon

Freddy (Duane) Mixon, 67, left us to enter his heavenly home on February 12, 2016, with his family by his side. Duane was born on August 7, 1948, in Swainsboro, Georgia. He is the oldest son of Theresa Jane Mixon and Tob Thadys Mixon. In 1967 he graduated from Hephzibah High school. Family will be recieving friends on Thursday, February 18 between the times of 12-2 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 2. All services are being held at Pine Hill Baptist Church located at 4233 Old Waynesboro Rd, Hephzibah, GA 30815. Duane was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather who always put himself before anyone else surrounding him. He was a jokester with the biggest sense of humor, but still one who had a heart that would cry over any happy movie or happy moment he encountered. More importantly, he was a fighter. He fought and fought to hang on as long as he could while battling many lengthy illnesses of heart failure, cancer, etc. Through it all, he found a way to always be there to love and support his family. Mr. Mixon is survived by his mother, Theresa Mixon of Augusta and his wife, Vicki Mixon. He left behind 4 children - 2 daughters, Brooke Mixon and April Stokes; 2 sons, Darryl Mixon and his wife Erin Snider Mixon, and Mark Long. 4 step children; Karla Vega, Lance Harrison, Tim Krooss, and Keith Krooss; along with 7 grandchildren. Siblings include his sister, Judy Mixon and brother, Buster Mixon. Duane was preceded in death by his father Tob Thadys Mixon (T.T. Mixon) of Augusta, and sister, Terri Mixon Wright.
