Frances Ellen Kennedy, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 29, 2021. She was born in Washington County Georgia on October 18th. 1928. Moving to Albany Georgia and growing up during her youth and teen years. While working as a waitress she met and married Ralph J. Kennedy on September 18th. 1946. During the early years of their marriage they were stationed in different parts of the United States when Ralph joined the Navy. Upon his retirement from the service in 1964 after 20 years of service, they made Wadley their home to be close to her parents and family. She worked at the shirt factory in Wadley for a few years, but in 1971 Ralph and Frances bought and opened the Wadley Café. She loved to cook and serve others. They made many friends and created many memories over the years. When they retired and closed the doors after 17 years she would always say (I wish I could run the Café by myself.) After retiring she became The Meals on Wheels in Wadley for those in need. She always wanted to do something for others. She loved to crochet and I believe everyone in Wadley has one of her potholders. She is survived by one daughter Lynn Sammons (Bruce) of Martinez, Ga. Two grandchildren Autumn Hickman (Brad) of Waynesboro, Ga. And Judson Sammons of Atlanta, Ga. Four great grandsons Alex, Aden, Noah, Sam and one great-great granddaughter, Adler. She had many nieces and nephews who she considered her children as well. Graveside services will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 am at Wadley City Cemetery with Reverend Chris Shoemaker officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Wadley United Methodist Church.
