Mrs. Evelyn Mattie Buchanan Evans, GA. Mrs. Evelyn Mattie Buchanan, 97, wife of the late William Albert Buchanan, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Mrs. Buchanan was a native of New Mexico, but spent the last ten years in Evans. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist of Las Cruces in New Mexico and attended West Acres while living in Evans. She is survived by her sons, David (Marilyn) Buchanan of Portales, NM; Richard Buchanan of Evans, GA, and Mike Buchanan of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Jeanie Hill of Grovetown, GA; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, March 25th from 5 – 7 p.m. at McNeill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to West Acres Baptist Church (555 Gibbs Rd., Evans, GA 30809).
