Esther J. Hall, 79, of Warrenville, S.C., died at home, October 10, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family. Esther was the wife of the late John C. Hall Jr. She was born in Smithton, Pa. and moved to Aiken, S.C. in 1954. Survivors include her daughter, Jean Hall (Delane Maxwell), sons Russell Duggan (Susan Jones) and Pete McElveen (Laurie), granddaughters Hannah Shires and Mary McElveen, grandson Michael McElveen (Laura), sister Carolyn Beck, and many loving nieces and nephews. Esther had a passion for animal welfare and rescued many cats, dogs, raccoons, and most recently a baby opossum. She and Johnny had a large vegetable garden for over 40 years, feeding many family and friends. She also found great joy tending her many flower gardens. She loved her family and was very loyal to her friends. The family would like to thank Millard Griffin, who Esther referred to as her "other son." He has been a steadfast friend and loved Esther as his "second Mama." Deep gratitude goes to the phenomenal staff at Regency Hospice. They gave outstanding care to Esther and her family. Special thanks to Pam Randolph, close family friend and hospice nurse. Pam's professionalism is impeccable, but her love and care brought great comfort to Esther and her family. The family thanks Brenda Stroman, hospice CNA, who developed a deep friendship with Esther when she needed it most. Brenda shared her compassion and love, but most importantly she shared her faith with Esther, singing old gospel hymns often. Brenda also brought much needed laughter on every visit. A graveside service will be held Sat., October 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Graniteville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd., Aiken, SC 29801, or on their websiteletlovelive.org.
