Erwin William Schaffran

Mr. Erwin William Schaffran, Retired Supervisor, Appling, Ga., entered into rest December 14, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Erwin William Schaffran was husband of Mrs. Gertrude F. Schaffran. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Teresa of Avila Parish on Wednesday at 1:00 pm with Father: Rev. Walter (Mike) Ingram, IV Celebrant.Burial will be at a later date. Mr. Schaffran, a native of Bielitz, Germany, lived in Columbia County since 1995.Previously, he lived in Cincinnati, OH.He is a member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish. He was in the German Army and belonged to the German Friendship Club. Mr. Schaffran was known as the Bavarian Nut Man. Additional survivors include two sons: William Karl Schaffran, Erwin Paul (Sheryl) Schaffran, and five grandchildren: William Karl II, Whitney Marie, Joshua Paul, Gregory Michael and Nicholas RyanSchaffran.
