Life Legacy Ercilio Collazo Gonzalez Ret. Security Guard Grovetown, Ga. entered into rest at his residence in Grovetown, Ga. on January 1, 2011. He was born on January 2, 1911 to the late Luciano Collazo and Ana Gonzalez of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He grew up and attended school in Ponce, PR. He married the late Rosa Rodriguez also from Ponce, PR In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by daughter (Hilda) and son (Ercilio, Jr.). Survivors include his son Carlos Collazo (Brenda), Grovetown, Ga. Daughter in-law Irma Collazo, Orlando, Fl. Eleven grandchildren. Belinda Collazo-Gadapee (Gregg) Evans, Ga. , Raul Collazo (Michelle) San Diego, CA., Ricardo Collazo, Queens, NY, Reynaldo Collazo, New York, NY, Yvonne Collazo-Lopez, Orlando, FL, Ruben Collazo, Queens, NY, Ranel Collazo, Queens, NY, Ranel Collazo, Middle Village, NY, Yolanda Collazo, Orlando, FL, Marcos Levy, Cuttingsville, VT, and Rosita Levy, New York, NY, Brothers Ubaldo Collazo, NY, Wilfredo Collazo, CA, Vicente Collazo, PR, and Efrain Collazo, PR. Sisters Wilhelmina Collazo, PR and Maria Luisa Collazo, PR. Also many many other relatives and friends. Mr. Collazo lived most of his life in Ponce, PR, where he was raised, attended school, worked and later raised his family. Although he only completed an 8th. Grade education, he had a tremendous thirst for knowledge and was constantly learning new things through his untiring readings and researches and was articulate in all subjects. His last employment was a Security Guard for 22 years. He retired in 1976. He had in his lifetime a great love for his family. After retiring he traveled to many parts of the USA to visit with his extended family. He enjoyed those trips to the fullest. Due to health reasons he was unable to travel freely duting the past six months of his life and resided with his son (Carlos and Brenda) in Grovetown, Ga. where he succumbed to the calling of the Lord. The family is eternally grateful to family and friends who visited and shared some time with him.Also the family is appreciative to the staff of Hospice Care of America (Victoria, Pam and Terry) who provided much comfort to him and family during the last three weeks of his life. Funeral services and interment will be conducted by Funeraria J. Oliver in Ponce, PR, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6; Burial will take place on Friday, January 7.
