Emily H. Hyatt, 90, of Augusta passed away April 4, 2017 at her residence. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 8, 2017 in the chapel of Poteet Funeral Home with Robert Swiger officiating. Born in Miami, Florida the daughter of the late Archie Carr and Katie King Carr, she had been a resident of Augusta since 1962.She was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and was a retired Kindergarten teacher having retired as Director-Teacher of the Day School Program at Covenant Presbyterian Church after serving in that position for fourteen years. Previously she had been Director-Teacher of the Crawford Avenue Baptist Church Kindergarten. Also she had been affiliated with the CSRA Pre-school association, the Association of Children with Learning Disabilities, and the Georgia Association for Young Children, and was a longtime volunteer for St. Joseph Hospice. She is survived by her son, Phillip Hamlin of Port St. Lucie, Florida, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Hamlin; daughter, Eileen Hilderbrandt and a son, Ernest “Buddy” Hamlin. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, GA.
