Edwin Wayne Potter Sr. was a devoted Army combat medic and Vietnam Veteran, who retired as Ward Master of Psychiatric Inpatient Services at Fort Eisenhower. His passion for the outdoors led him to found the Walkinshaw Hunt Club, where he was an avid hunter, dog trainer, horseman, and wagon master.
Born on Roan Mountain, TN, Edwin spent his formative years on Walnut Mountain and in the "holler" in Hampton, TN. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Carmen Brown Potter; his son, Edwin Wayne Potter Jr.; his daughter, Rebekka J. Potter Jones (Jimmy); and his son, Rylen A. Potter. Additionally, Edwin was a cherished grandfather to Mason A. Matthews and Mary Rose Jones. He is also survived by his stepson, Dallas Rogers, and his sister, Mrs. Jean (Butch) Johnson of Buck Mountain, TN. He was predeceased by his late sister Glenda Potter Willis.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM...1400 hrs., at the American Legion Post 150 located on Bath-Eddie Road in Blythe, GA. Interment will occur at a later date, with a graveside service and military honors to be performed in Butler, TN, near his parents' resting place.
The family encourages no black attire in favor of celebrating Edwin's spirit with plaid shirts and jeans !
Edwin Wayne Potter Sr.'s legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him .
