Edna Doster Caskey

Mrs. Edna Doster Caskey, 89, of Atlanta, GA, died Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The funeral will be on November 2nd , 2009, at 2pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, Evans, GA with the Reverend Mark Sargent officiating.The family will receive friends at Wesley at 1pm before the service.Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. Rev. Mark Sargent will officiate. Mrs. Caskey was born February 19th, 1920 in Clarke County, GA and was a graduate of Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville, NC.She lived most of her life in Augusta until moving to an assisted living facility in Atlanta.She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a former long time member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church.She was a lifetime member of The Alice Warren Eastern Star Lodge.She loved to sew and read.She held many jobs throughout her life, including working in a bakery, in the Post Exchange in Ft. Bragg, NC, as a school secretary, and a real estate agent.She will be remembered for her positive outlook on life and her faith in God. Mrs. Caskey was preceded in death by her husband, MAJ(Ret) William Pinkney Caskey, Sr. and by her sister, Lucille Doster Miller of Fayetteville, NC.Survivors include three sons: Carl Lathan Caskey (Homa) of Liberty, NC; John Thomas Caskey (Alice) of Columbia, SC; William Pinkney Caskey, Jr. of North Augusta, SC; a daughter, Jane Caskey Wilson (Brian) of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Ruth Doster Layton and Anne Doster Regan, both of Orlando, FL; and six grandchildren: Bryan, Celeste, and Isabelle Caskey of Columbia, SC; Mercedes Caskey of Liberty, NC; Elizabeth Caskey of Evans, GA; and Kathryn Wilson of Atlanta, GA. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Georgia Chapter, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA, 30904, 706-731-9060; or the Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 825 North Belair Road, Evans, GA, 30809; or the charity of your choice.
