Eddy Mitchum entered into rest on January 21, 2022at the age of 78.He was a mechanic’s mechanic, enjoying repairing the unrepairable.In his youth, he built and ran Eddy’s VW Hospital on Bobby Jones Expressway in Martinez, later changed to Eddy’s Auto Hospital (at the insistence of the VW Corporation).He worked in many of the CSRA dealerships in the sales or service departments over the years, then moved to North Carolina until retiring to Lincolnton, GA in 2008.He loved fixing things, fishing, and NASCAR (until the recent rules changes), but his first concern was always his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Mitchum and Eunice Walker Mitchum Reece Bussey, his brothers (Frank Mitchum and Kenneth Wayne Mitchum) and sister (Pamela Mitchum Ellis), and sons (Todd Mitchum and Trailer Edward Mitchum). He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, daughters Edith Ostrihaun (and granddaughters Brandy and Cori, great grandchild Drew) and Ruana Merritt (and granddaughters Shelby and Malory, great grandchild Stormie), sister Judy Love, sister-in-law Teny Mitchum and many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved. There will be a private graveside gathering.In the future, there will be a Celebration of Life gathering to honor both Eddy Mitchum and his son, T. Edward Mitchum (58) who died on May 19, 2020. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to Kindred Hospice of Augusta, GA.
