Eddie Ladon Boyd Jr. "Smokey" It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Ladon Boyd Jr., affectionately known as "Smokey," on December 24, 2023, in Augusta, Georgia. Born on September 7, 1966, in Augusta, Georgia, Eddie's life was characterized by his outgoing nature, his love for his family, and his passion for all things mechanical and outdoors. Eddie was a master electrician, a skilled car builder, and an avid mechanic, known in his community for his ability to breathe new life into classic cars. His hands were rarely clean, always tinkering, fixing, and creating. He turned his passions into a career that not only supported his family but also brought him immense joy. Smokey was known for his infectious laughter and his ability to light up any room. His humor and outgoing personality made him beloved by many. He was a master eBay deal hunter and a Facebook Marketplace mastermind, always on the lookout for the best finds to share with friends and family. His knack for finding the best deals was only matched by his generosity in giving advice and offering a helping hand. Eddie's love for life was evident in his many hobbies. He was happiest when refurbishing and working on classic cars, fishing, playing golf, enjoying a game of cards, or camping with his family. His proposal to his beloved wife, Dana, at the "Run to the Sun" car show was a testament to his romantic spirit and his love for combining his passions. He leaves behind a loving family: his wife Dana; daughter Robin; sons Casey and Joe; grandsons Kaydon and Braydon; mother Peggy Wates; stepfather Van Wates; father Eddie "Donnie" Boyd Sr.; and stepmother Ruby Boyd. Eddie's presence will be deeply missed but his spirit will continue to live on through the memories shared by his loved ones. A memorial service will be held in his honor at Langley Church of God, off of Jefferson Davis Highway, on December 30th from 2 PM to 6 PM. Rest in peace, Eddie "Smokey" Boyd Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Your laughter, wisdom, and spirit will forever be remembered
