On April 7, 2023, Dr. Martha S. Eames, a fighter of the good fight and a woman of faith, entered into rest at the age of 75. Martha was born on November 5, 1947 and was adopted by Hiram and Grace Sandlin of Anderson, SC. She was a brilliant student, earning the valedictorian of her high school before excelling both in undergraduate and medical school studies at Emory University. Martha had a passion for service. She started her career as a pediatric oncologist, then shifted to practicing as an addiction psychiatrist. She fostered several children and offered her time frequently to those in need. In retirement, she worked at the Augusta (GA) food shelter. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hiram Sandlin and Grace Sandlin, and her husband Bruce Eames. She is survived by her daughter Mary Alice Baldree (Thomas), her son Jason Silverstein (Becky), and grandchildren Demi Baldree, Lee Silverstein, Kate Silverstein, and sister Mary Rowell (Jake), her nieces Ellen Mays and Susan Thompson.
