Donald G. Jones

Donald G. Jones, 85 entered into rest on August 31, 2024. He was born on May 21, 1939, in Newton County, Arkansas, to the late Marvin Jones and Viola Dunlap. Mr. Jones served for over 20 years in the U.S. Army. During his time in the service, Mr. Jones served tours of duty in Europe, Korea and Vietnam as well as time at various bases in the United States. He received various awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Cluster, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and Meritorious Service Medal. In addition to his service for our Nation, Mr. Jones also worked and retired from the Department of the Army as a civilian. Mr. Jones was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Gordon Jones and Kenneth Jones. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Peggy Ann Jones; son David Jones (wife Christy) of Waxhaw, North Carolina; grandchildren Jack Jones and Ansley Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with Military Honors for Mr. Jones will be held on September 28,2024 at Sandhill Cemetery, Newton County, Arkansas. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) on his behalf.
