Don A. Wood

Mr. Don Ancel Wood of bell Drive in Augusta died on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the VA Medical Center.He was 71 years old. The memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.Ryan Campbell will officiate.Mr. Wood was cremated and committal services will be private at a later date. Mr. Wood is survived by his daughters, Donna Moyle Page and her husband, Deuce, of Aiken, Angela O’Dell and her husband, Digger, of West Palm Beach, Florida, Dianna Lynn Wood, and Sonya Elaine Freeman, both of Texas; his brothers, Timothy Ray Wood of Augusta, and Michael O’Brien Wood, of Lincolnton; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Ansel and Ruby Wood, and by his sister, Jean Harvird. Mr. Wood was a native of Falcon, North Carolina.He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired as a diesel mechanic for the Richmond County Board of Education.Mr. Wood was an avid hunter and fisherman.Mr. Wood had a heart as big as texas.He never met a stranger and loved to tell a good “tall tale.” For memorials, the family suggests the American Heart Association, P.O.
