Dolores Ann Phillips Long time south Augusta resident, Dolores (Dee) Phillips passed away at a local hospital on Sunday, March 20th at the age of 84. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.Committal services will follow at Hillcrest memorial Park.Rev. Billy Atkins will officiate. Dolores was born on August 26,1926 in Live Oak, Florida to Edna Lee Holcomb Creekmore (Older) and Joab Creekmore. Dolores graduated from high school in Starke, Florida and attended Florida Women's College in Jacksonville, Florida prior to marrying serviceman and native Augustan, Willie Herman Phillips in 1945. The couple resided in New Jersey and Austria prior to settling in Augusta in 1955. Dolores was employed by OK Rubber Welders, Lily Tulip Cup Corporation, and Owens of Illinois prior to her retirement. She was a long time member of Fleming Baptist Church. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Bert H. Creekmore. Family will remember Dee as a very outgoing and caring person. She never met a stranger and maintained relationships with many life-long friends. Dee loved to travel, especially to the mountains or the beach.She enjoyed music, swimming, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Phillips Noonan of Temple, Texas and her husband, Donald; her son, Rodney Phillips of Augusta and his wife, Lulline: grandchildren, StaceyNoonan Ridout of Austin, Texas and her husband, Lee; Brice Noonan of Austin, Texas; Krisy Tompkins of Augusta and her husband, Joseph; Keith Kersey of Langley, and his wife, Lisa; and four great-grandchildren; Maddox Ridout, Bethany Tompkins, Beatrice (BeBe) Tompkins, and Zane Kersey. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Fleming Baptist Church, Rise Up and Build Fund, 3027 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906 The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706.798.8886 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.Friends may sign the online guest register at www.poteetfuneralhomes.com
