Della Carpenter

Della Carpenter entered into rest on Sunday September 8, 2024, at her home after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Della was born on June 15. 1942 in Grovetown GA to Audley and Minnie Lee Tucker into a large family. Della graduated from Harlem High School and worked as a bookkeeper most of her life, starting out at The Graniteville Company. She retired from work at the Columbia County tag office. She loved to go to church and was an active member of Cornerstone Fellowship in Augusta, GA. Della was a strong and independent woman and the matriarch of her family. She was known for her beautiful flowers, caring for her animals, and helping care for her family in any way she could. Della was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Penny and Jeff Mehaffey of Augusta. Becky and Larry Jordan of Gray, and Clay and Jenny Carpenter of Harlem and her grandchildren: Noah, Sarah, Olivia, Abigail, Caleb, Shelby, and Lilly and her sisters Mary Galford of Michigan, Dixie Street of Deering, and Jackie Latin of Hephzibah. During her lifetime, her home was always open to her friends and family and was often the location for Sunday dinner and many holidays. Following in her tradition her children will receive family, flowers and condolences from friends this Saturday, September 14 from 1:00-3:00pm at 811 Mary Ave. Augusta GA 30904
