Deborah Watts Cooke

June 5, 1950 — January 13, 2023

Deborah Watts Cooke, 72, fell asleep in death on January 13, 2023, at NHC of North Augusta. She was born June 5, 1950, to the late Grady Wayne and Ethel Mae Watts. Debbie was born in Columbia, South Carolina. She married the love of her life, Clifford A. Cooke Sr., on December 1, 1984. Together they made their home in North Augusta, South Carolina. Cliff and his “Debbie Girl”, as he affectionately called her, loved taking trips to the mountains and hiking to waterfalls.

Debbie dedicated her life to her Creator, Jehovah God, and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 9, 1980, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Cliff and Debbie share five children: Cliff Cooke Jr., Kelli Cooke Simonetti, Angela Widener Lewis, Bradford Allen Widener (Tammy) and Julie Cooke Alston (Ronald); 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Debbie's three siblings are Vickie Lynn Singleton, Grady Wayne Watts, and Michael Eugene Watts. She also had many close friends that she cherished.

Although having ill health for many years, she did not hesitate to share her hope in the Bible’s promises with anyone she met. She kept plenty of Bible literature available for others to read. She encouraged her congregation by commenting at every Christian meeting. Her visitors often remarked they learned much from her example of loyalty, wisdom and gratitude. Everyone who went to encourage Debbie left encouraged themselves. Debbie was truly loved and respected by those who knew her well. She was a gift to all the lives she touched.

Debbie’s family wishes to thank their true friends for your love, prayers, and support received during this difficult time. They also wish to express appreciation to the devoted staff for the wonderful care she received at NHC of North Augusta.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 1 O’clock in the afternoon at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4062 Aiken Augusta Hwy., Clearwater, South Carolina with Warren Rick officiating.
