In Loving Memory of David "Toot" Mize It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David “Toot” Mize, who left us on December 20, 2024, at the age of 55. David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend—a man whose dedication, kindness, and unwavering respect for others touched everyone he met. His generosity knew no bounds, and there was no favor too large or small that he wouldn’t consider for the sake of someone else. The racetrack held a special place in David’s heart. He always felt at home there, where the sound of engines and the thrill of competition stirred something deep within him. For David, the racetrack wasn’t just a place to watch a race; it was a sanctuary where passion and adrenaline flowed freely, where time seemed to slow down, and every lap brought new excitement. It was a space where friendships blossomed and where he could create lasting memories with his family. The racetrack was his escape, his haven, and he cherished every moment spent there. David leaves behind his devoted wife of 30 years, Jennifer; their children, Haley and Colin; and his cherished grandchildren, Connor, Chandler, Hoyt, and Beau, along with his beloved fur babies, Chloe, June Bug, and Oakley, who were the light of his life. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Mize; his father, Curtis Mize; and his brother, Benji Griffin. He is survived by his bonus mother, Glenda; and his siblings, Chris Mize (Sonia), Cindy McKinnon (Robert), and Ed Griffin. David also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives were enriched by knowing him. Though he has been taken from us too soon, his legacy will endure in the lives he touched and the example he set for all of us. David’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will live on through the kindness he shared and the love he gave so freely. A celebration of David’s life will be held on December 28, 2024, at 3 PM at First Friendship Church, 3027 Tobacco Rd, Hephzibah, GA 30815. At this time, the family asks for prayers as they navigate this journey. Rest in peace, David. You were a true blessing to this world and a man like no other.
