David Robert Best

David Robert Best, 54 of Evans, GA, passed away on June 9, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with ALS. David was surrounded by those that loved him dearly during this time. The Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, at 2:00 with visitation beginning at 1:00. The service will take place at Stevens Creek Church 600 Stevens Creek Road, Augusta, Ga. David was born in Chattanooga, TN on June 18, 1968. He graduated from South Aiken High School and continued on to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina Aiken. David married Stephanie on October 12, 2019; they were together for 10 years and married almost 4 years. David worked as a chemist and project manager for SRS Department of Energy for 32 years. He was an avid runner, and enjoyed coaching youth soccer, spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and traveling. David is survived by Stephanie (spouse), Jacob, Andrew, and Heather, (children), Meghan and John Simmons, and Bailey Blair (stepdaughters), Leighton, Adley, and Landry (grandchildren), Diane and Ray Wright (mom and stepfather), Jeff and Melissa Best, Scott and Anya Best (brothers), Jeffrey and Lindsay Best and baby Tripp, Joe Best and Mara Peng (nephews), Lily Kate Best, Rachel and Matt Mackie (nieces), and other family and friends. David is preceded in death by his father David J. Best. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The ALS Association.
