Daniel Storey

Daniel (Danny, Dan) Michael Storey, Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle, passed away suddenly on November 7th. Danny was born in 1949 to Edith (née Wildgoose) & Harold Storey and grew up in Barrington, Rhode Island. He attended Hampden Meadows School, St. Luke’s School and Barrington High School (Class of 1967), and attended St. Joseph College in Indiana and Windham College in Vermont. He married Judy Testa in Bar Harbor, Maine and together raised their three children between Bar Harbor and Palm Beach, FL. An avid sailor, Danny loved all things boating from an early age which continued until late in life – including a recent-ish restoration of a sailboat and taking to the open waters with his brother Bill. The much-anticipated trip was short-lived, but that’s a story for another time. Danny’s earlier career was in yacht sales but his true passion, found later in life, was painting and selling antiques. He could be found hawking his wares up & down the East Coast talking unsuspecting customers into items they didn’t know they needed. Living up to his name, he was the consummate Stor(e)yTeller – some, okay most, of his tales were questioned, but mostly believed (sort of, not really), with the listener engrossed in his every word, laughing uncontrollably and ready for more. A good time was to be had when Danny was around. Danny loved life, driving most of those closest to him crazy with his antics but each knowing it came from love – we think. He definitely had an Angel on one shoulder and a Devil on the other. He had a special place in his heart for his siblings, loved being around his nieces & nephews and especially loved being Grampi to Addie & Asher. Danny will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, tall tales, as a loving Brother, Uncle Danny and a Dad in the true sense of the word. Danny is survived by his three children, Jennifer Storey, Alex Storey and James Storey (Lucy); two Grandchildren, Adelaide & Asher Storey; Brother Bill Storey (Isabel), Sisters Virginia Storey, Pamela Storey Thompson (James) and Alicia Storey; 17 Nieces & Nephews (Kreesla, Alexa, Angel, Janel, Cedric, Justin, Adrian, Garrett, Ben, Julia, Ian, Carrie, Chris, Stephanie, Nina, Kate and Thomas); numerous cousins, great nieces & nephews and many long-time, close friends. A celebration of life will be held at a future date in Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, please raise a glass, tell a joke or ten, regale your family and friends with highly exaggerated, hilarious stories, or send donations to your favorite animal support organization or Friends of Acadia.
