SFC Clifford Palmer Banks Sr. US Army Retired Mr. Clifford Palmer Banks Sr. of Manderson Circle in Hephzibah died on Sunday, July 5, 2009.He was 66 years old. The service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 11:00 am in the chapel of The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.Committal services with military honors will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Waynesboro.Rev. Keith McFeely, Rev. Michael Rochester, and Craig Kennedy will officiate. Mr. Banks is survived his wife, Brenda Banks; his children, Clifford P. Banks Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Johnston, South Carolina, James W. Banks and his wife, Tammy, of Waynesboro, and his daughter, Kristy D. Dozier and her husband, Pedro, of Hephzibah; his grandchildren, Amanda Banks, Clifford James Banks, Savanna Banks, Dominique Smith, and Amarion Smith; his brother, John P. Banks and his wife, Alice, of Rome, Georgia. Mr. Banks is a veteran of the United States Army.He retired in 1981 as a Sgt. First Class.He was a member of Botsford Baptist Church and attended South Haven Baptist Church.After his retirement from the military, he attended Augusta Technical College and studied air conditioning and heating.He worked at several local apartment complexes.He also worked as an attendant at DeLoach Funeral Home for more than 30 years.
