Cheryl Kelley Andrews

d. August 29, 2024

Cheryl Kelley Andrews, 73, of Augusta GA, passed away on August 29th, after an eight-month battle with brain cancer. Cheryl was a beautiful person, inside and out. She loved traveling and exploring small towns, especially if mountains or beaches were nearby. She had a sweet spot for animals and her puppy dogs loved her as much as she loved them – Scout and Otis were always by her side. They were very protective of her near the end of her life, which showed their dedication and love for their momma. She was a teacher for 30+ years and loved her students very much. She began her career at Augusta Montessori School. She then taught at Augusta Reading Foundation (teaching reading was a passion of hers), and later at North Harlem Elementary. Cheryl is preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Thomas Kelley and her mother, Jeanette Helms Kelley. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Frank Andrews, her children Richie (Julie) Andrews, Holly Andrews, and Ryan (Mary) Andrews, her sweet grandchildren, Kate and Meg Andrews, her brother Tom (Sandy) Kelley, her sister Leslie (Mills) Polatty, and her nieces and nephews Anna Kelley (Josh) Chapman, Katheryn (Marc) McMahon, Matt Kelley, Mike (Amanda) Kelley, and the baby of the cousins, Caroline Polatty. Her Friends, Kathy Bell and Linda Fry, along with her “sisters” (they know who they are), and the Brynwood neighborhood family have been such a blessing, and we are all thankful for them and the love and support they have provided. The family would also like to thank the Enhabit Hospice nurses, and Cheryl’s care team (oncology, neurosurgery, radiation, etc.) throughout this difficult season. Cheryl had unwavering faith in God, which was evident in her ability to fight cancer for as long as her body allowed. To celebrate Cheryl’s remarkable life, we will be gathering later in the fall (date and location TBD). In lieu of traditional mourning, we request the joy of your company in bright colors, reflecting Cheryl’s vibrant spirit.
