Mr. Charlie K. Boyd SFC US Army Ret Mr. Charlie K. Boyd of Pine Needle Road in Hephzibah died on Friday, January 8, 2010.He was 68 years old. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.A Rosary will be recited during the visitation.The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2009 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 854 Old Edgefield Road, North Augusta.Mr. Boyd will be cremated and burial will be a private service at a later date. Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of over 39 years, Mrs. Peggy Boyd; his daughter, Ann-Marie Boyd of Hephzibah; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and JáNet Boyd of Birmingham; his sister, Kathy Dufour of Savannah; his grandson, Charles IanRuslan Boyd; his brothers-in-law, James J. McMeekin of Philadelphia and Wesley Orr of Goose Creek, South Carolina. Mr. Boyd was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in North Augusta.He was retired from the United States Army after more than 20 years, including service during the Vietnam War.Following his military service, Mr. Boyd was an electronics technician at Fort Gordon.He was a fisherman, bowler, golfer, and loved to tinker with electronics.
