Charles Russell Miller

Mr. Charles Russell Miller Sr., of Goshen Lake Drive, Augusta, died on Monday, October 25, 2010 at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home (The Blue Goose).He was 85 years old. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 6:00 until 7:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The memorial service will follow the visitation on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Udell Rogger Miller; his children, Donna Lee Miller of Bullhead City, Arizona, Rex C. Miller and his wife, Karen, of Augusta, and Charles “Chuck” R. Miller Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Hilton Head, South Carolina; his granddaughters, Amy E. Miller and Jessica Miller, and Linda Conrad, long time friend of the family.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ella May and Ely Miller; his brother, Wallace Miller; his sisters, Helen Goring, Jessie Muckensturm, Norma Soule, and Oreatha Miller. Mr. Miller served in the United States Navy as Gunners Mate Third Class in the Armed Guard Services on Merchant Marine Ships.He was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church.He retired as personnel director from Gracewood State School.Mr. Miller was a member of the Forest Hills Golf Association. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Blue Goose Auxiliary Fund, 1101 15th Street, Augusta 30901 or, Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, 2372 Lumpkin Road, Augusta 30906-5372.
