Carolyn Hallmark Caulkins went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was surrounded by her family as she entered her new home.
Carolyn (aka MiMi) was born November 12, 1928, to Victor William Hallmark and Paula Johnson Hallmark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Baker Caulkins, Jr. and her two older sisters, Anita and Doris
Carolyn grew up in Chattanooga Tennessee. At Chattanooga High School, she was selected May Queen, most representative and most attractive of her senior class. After high school, she was elected Chattanooga’s Maid Of Cotton.
She attended University of Chattanooga until she met the love of her life, Henry Baker Caulkins, Jr. They were married June 27, 1948 in the Patton Chapel at the University of Chattanooga. They had two daughters Carolyn Caulkins Blount (Lamar) and Joan Caulkins Nelson (Mike). Carolyn was a faithful prayer warrior for all her family
She had six grandchildren, Matthew Neal Nelson (Anne), Deborah Blount, Anna Nelson Allgood (Wilson), Ellen Blount Hake (Brian), David Henry Nelson (Courtney) and William Davis Nelson (Robyn). She had nine great-grandchildren, Caleb Michael Nelson, Sarah Kellon Nelson, Carter Matthew Hake, Mason Henry Hake, Hadley Caroline Allgood, Caroline Elizabeth Hake, Bailey Rae Nelson, Forrest Davis Allgood and Charlie Grace Nelson.
After a short business career at the Tennessee Valley Authority, Carolyn stayed at home to raise their two daughters. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family meant all to her. Carolyn also served in church ministries, hospital auxiliary and community services.
The family would like to express appreciation to caregivers Barbara Mathis, Bea Boles, Jackie Blackmon and Melinda Harris and to Karen Cunningham from Hands of Grace Hospice.
A worship and celebration of life graveside service will be held 12:30 Friday, September 23 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery where she will be buried beside her husband Henry. Her grandchildren will officiate the service, read Scripture and pray. Pallbearers will be Matt Nelson, David Nelson, Will Nelson, Caleb Nelson, Wilson Allgood and Brian Hake.
McNeill Funeral Home of Augusta will be providing services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity On The Hill UMC in Augusta, Georgia.
