Carole Shaw Mcclure

Carole Shaw McClure, 74 of Appling, Georgia wife of 53 years to Gerald (Jerry) McClure passed away March,7, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends at home. She was born December 29, 1942 in Athens, Georgia to Mamie and I.G. Shaw. In addition to her husband, Carole is survived by a son William Preston McClure of Waynesville, North Carolina and a grandson Alex McClure Hickman. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Toni and Milton Parr of Athens, Georgia, nephews Wade and Zack Parr of St. Simons Island, Georgia and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Judi McClure of Appling, Georgia. Carole was an avid golfer and loved to bowl with special bowling teammates Roy and Lessie Elrod. She was part owner of Rocky Branch Golf Club in Lincolnton, Georgia where she played with her dear friends Cookie Schmidt, Nell Robinson, Barbara Krummell, Cindy Troupe, Paula Fletcher, Barbara Spires, Melony Dawkins, Ann Sanders, Patty Patridge, Janice Gentry, Nancie Czernek, and Betty Wisenbaker on a regular basis until her illness prevented her from playing. Carole always put others’ wellbeing above her own and never let an opportunity pass by to help family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 10, 2017, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Rocky Branch Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
