Mr. Billy Usry Loving husband of Cynthia Usry Mr. Billy Usry entered into rest on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at University Hospital.He was 70 years old.Billy’s family will receive friends this evening, Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at The Hill Baptist Church, 2165 Kings Way, Augusta, Georgia 30904. Committal services will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.Mr. Usry’s body will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from noon until the funeral hour.Rev. Ron Jones and Rev. Fred Gunter will officiate.Pallbearers are Billy Austin Usry, Christopher Fazio, Russell Blanchard, Bill Brown, Christopher Kitchens, and Jon-Eric Stripling. Along with his beloved wife of more than 44 years, Mrs. Cynthia Smoak Usry, Billy is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Karen and Chris Kitchens, and Jennifer Usry-Stripling; his grandson and best buddy, Billy Austin Usry; his granddaughter and favorite girl, Shalyn Grace Stripling, all of Augusta; his sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Ben Buffington, of Warrenton; his brothers and sisters-in-law,John Usry, of Martinez, Joe and Wanna Usry, of North Augusta, Ronnie and Bobbie Usry, of Evans, and Ricky and Dale Usry, of Bath, South Carolina; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.Billy was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. “Sambo” and Bular Mae Beckworth Usry; his brothers, Charles and Tip Usry; his mother and father-in-law, Roy and Grace Smoak. Mr. Usry worked for the Milliken Company Thomson Plant for 43 years.He was a member of Hill Baptist Church; members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers at his funeral service.The family suggests that memorials be made to Coordinated Health Services, 2110 Broad Street, Augusta, Georgia 30904, or to The Hill Baptist Church Youth and Children Fund, 2165 Kings Way, Augusta, Georgia 30904.
