Augusta, Georgia Mrs. Billie Gail Lord of Old McDuffie Road in Augusta died on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Doctors Hospital.She was 73 years old. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.Rev. David Stockton will officiate.Committal services will be conducted on Saturday, January 31, at 3:00 p.m. at Lawnwood Memorial Gardens in Covington, Georgia. Mrs. Lord was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Charles Thomas Lord, in May of 2007.Her grandson, Byron D. Carter, her great-granddaughter, Antonia Colette Myra Yancy, her sisters, May Arginbright, Lucy Klupp, Ann P. McFarland, and her parents, Rev. Fred and Ruby Powell, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Lord is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Myra G. Carter-Jones and Richard Jones, of Harlem; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Mandy C. Carter-Yancy and Anthony L. Yancy Jr.; great grandchildren, Michael Carter-Mague of Harlem, and Anthony L. Yancy III of Augusta, her nephews, Reggie McFarland and her husband, Reggie, of Social Circle, and Wayne Neeley of Kentucky; her niece, Gloria Trosper and her husband, Charles, of Missouri; a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Lord was retired as a computer programmer from Citi-Corp Bank.She was a member of Glen Hills Baptist Church in Augusta and Covington United Methodist Church.She enjoyed bird watching and playing with her dogs.Mrs. Lord was an avid reader who loved entertaining family and friends at her home.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.Her memory will be cherished by her family and many friends.
