Beverly J. Sharpsteen

Beverly Sharpsteen, 81, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2020 at Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Beverly was born to Orville and Vira (Franklin) Tracy on April 17, 1939 in Cortland, New York and grew up on their family farm in Sempronius, New York. She is survived by her children; Heidi Halliday, Tracy (Jess) Rieks, Mike (Gail) Sharpsteen. Sister; Mary Jane Seamans, brother; William (Sammy) Tracy. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren: David (Jennifer) Steger, Zachary Steger, Ian (Emily) Spafford, Lily and Jacob Rieks, and Emily and Maggie Sharpsteen. She also has five great grandchildren; Mia, Luke & Finn Steger, Paiton and Nora Spafford as well as many nieces and nephews. She attended Moravia Elementary, Junior, and Senior High School of which she proudly graduated and twirled baton as a Majorette. She attended Buffalo University for Art History. Beverly then attended a beauty institute and owned and operated her own hair dressing salons in Moravia and Locke New York. Next, she lived in Mannsville, New York and worked as a flag person on a construction crew. She also lived in Finksburg, Maryland and managed the Carroll County Senior Center. Beverly owned a lake house on Lake Como, New York where she taught many family and friends the proper way to fish. Her employment concluded with Kinney’s drug store in Moravia NY while residing in VilVue Mobile Home Park. Life notes: Beverly was an avid sports fan, with her love of the New York Yankees and Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball being the most passionate. She was also known for her watercolor paintings and love of humming birds and RVing. Additionally, she also fostered drug and alcohol addicted newborns until adoptive families were found. Beverly was a proud and dedicated grandmother whose love and support had no limit or equal. They will miss her greatly. In lieu of flowers, we ask that those who wish to participate in commemorating Beverly contribute to the Four Town Moravia, New York Ambulance Squad or the National Kidney Foundation. Private graveside services will be held at the Westover Cemetery in Augusta, Georgia in the near future.
